XIX (1st remote) International Olga Sosnovskaya Young Vocalists Contest

Merited Artiste of Russia, People's Artiste of the Komi Republic,

Laureate of the All-Russian and International Vocalists Contests,

soloist of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Komi Republic

 

Dates: November 1–30, 2020

Genre: academic vocal

Age of participants: from 9 to 21 (inclusive)

The Contest is held using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society, provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.

The Contest Terms

The International Olga Sosnovskaya Young Vocalists Contest in full-time form in Syktyvkar has been held once every two years since 1993. For the first time in 2020, the Contest is held in absentia in a remote format based on video recordings sent by contest participants.

Young vocalists having initial vocal training, in 4 age groups are allowed to participate.

  • Younger age group - 9-11
  • 1st average age group - 12-14
  • 2nd average age group - 15-17
  • Senior age group - 18-21 (inclusive).
  • The Contest is held in 2 rounds. Competitive selection is carried out in absentia in a remote format based on video recordings.
  • Video recording of each round of the Contest program must strictly comply with the requirements and must be sent within a certain time frame in accordance with the schedule of the Contest.
  • Performance of the Contest program under phonogram is not allowed.
  • The Jury estimates the appearances of participants by 10 ball system.
  • The winners of the 1st round of competitive selection are allowed to participate in the 2nd round.
  • Final determination of places and prizes is done taking into account the results of the first and second rounds.
  • The estimation of a jury member whose pupil takes part in the contest, is not taken into account at count of balls.
  • If and when at count of balls or when voting there exists the equal amount of votes "for" and "against", the vote of the chairman is final. Olga Sosnovskaya is Constant Chairman of the Contest Jury, in her absence Chairman of the Contest Jury is appointed by the Organizing Committee.
  •  Within the competence and the established bonus fund the Jury has the right:

a) To award not all prizes.

b) To divide monetary awards (except Grand prix) between winners.

c) To award the title “Prize winner (Diplomant) of the International Contest”.

d) To establish special prizes.

e) To award their own prizes to contest participants, concertmasters and teachers.

  • Jury decisions are final and are not subject to reconsideration.
  • The jury members' estimates are not published.
  • The Organizing Committee has the right for TV and radio broadcasting of video recordings of the contest program with their further commercial distribution without additional fee to the contest participants.
  • Video recordings of competitive listenings are posted in the Internet in the YouTube channel for audience voting and further open viewing.
  • Grand Prix winners and 1st prize winners of the contests held in 2019 in Krasnoyarsk and St. Petersburg, in 2020 - the XIX (I-st remote) Contest, in 2021 - the Contest in Krasnodar, have the right to automatically go to the 2nd round of the Contest in Moscow, which will be held in November 2021. The age limit will remain the same – 21 years old (inclusive).

  • October 01-26 - acceptance of applications for the 1st round of the Contest
  • October 27-31 - application processing
  • November 01-10 -1st round (jury work: selection of contestants based on video recordings)
  • November 11 - announcement of the results of round 1 (live)
  • November 12-20 - acceptance of video performances of participants for the 2nd round of the Contest
  • November 21-26 - round 2 (jury work: selection of contestants based on video recordings)
  • November 27-29 - master classes of the jury members (live broadcast)
  • November 30 - announcement of the contest results (live broadcast)
  • December 01-05 – courses of improvement of qualification of teachers

* December 06 - Gala concert of the winners of the Contest (broadcast in the Internet of the best performances based on video recordings of the contest program of participants)

 

Competitive requirements on the Program of Appearances

Soloists-vocalists

Performance time: no more than 12 minutes

Younger age group (9-11) (2 compositions are recorded)

  - folk song accompanied by a piano or "a capella"

1st average age group (12-14) (2 compositions are recorded)

  - folk song accompanied by a piano or "a capella"

  - aria, arietta, madrigal, canzone of XVI-XVIII century

 2nd average age group (15-17) (2 compositions are recorded, by choise)

  - folk song accompanied by a piano or "a capella"

  - aria, аrietta, madrigal, canzone of XVI-XVIII century

  - romance of a Russian composer

Senior age group (18-21) (2 compositions are recorded, by choise)

  - folk song accompanied by a piano or “a capella”

  - aria of XVI-XVIII century

  - romance of a Russian composer

 

II round

 Younger age group (9-11) (2 compositions are recorded)

  - song or romance (Mozart, Schubert, Vekerlen, Haydn, Grieg, Brams, Beethoven, Glinka, Tchaikowsky, Bulahov, Gurilev, Varlamov, etc.)

  - musical composition by choice

1st average age group (12-14) (2 compositions are recorded)

  - song or romance (Mozart, Schubert, Vekerlen, Haydn, Grieg, Brams, Beethoven, Glinka, Tchaikowsky, Bulahov, Gurilev, Varlamov, etc.)

  - musical composition by choice

2nd average age group (15-17) (3 compositions are recorded)

  - aria of a Russian or foreign composer

  - romance of a foreign composer

  - musical composition by choice

Senior age group (18-21) (3 compositions are recorded)

  - aria from an opera of a Russian or foreign composer

  - romance of a foreign composer

  - musical composition of composer of XX-XXI century

The performance of the program is desirable in the language of the original.

Musical compositions performed in the 1st round cannot be performed again in the 2nd round. It is recommended that the selection of musical compositions correspond to the age of the participants (complexity, character, texts).

Special prizes and monetary awards

- prize to the teacher of "GRAND PRIX" winner 20.000 roubles

- prize to the best concertmaster (laureate) 10.000 roubles

- title “Prize winner (Diplomant) of the Contest”

- prize of spectators’ sympathies (determined by voting in the Internet)

- individual master classes of the jury members.

The "Grand Prix " of the Contest (cash prize) and the "Olga Sosnovskaya Prize" (valuable prize) are special prizes that are awarded for high performing skills and artistry.

The winner of the Grand Prix is recognized as the absolute winner of the Contest.

Participants not included into number of winners of the contest, the teachers of the contestants, concertmasters, and the jury members of the Contest are awarded certificates for participating in the Contest.

 

Terms for participation in the Contest

Applications for participation in the Contest are accepted from October 01 to 26, 2020.

During this period, you must send the following documents to the Organizing Committee:

  • a completed application (full name, date of birth, age group, short creative biography, educational institution, home address, contact phone, Fax, E-mail, tour program, full name of the teacher and concertmaster, their email address and phone number with the city and country code);
  • video recording of the competition program (all works of the competitive program of each round are performed in a row one after another and the recording must be made in a single file without interruption and installation glues);
  • program for tours in the scanned version (+ in Word required);
  • color photo (portrait) in electronic format JPEG (at least 2 MB);
  • a short creative biography in the Word program (place of birth, educational institution, teacher, participation in contests, master classes, other creative achievements);
  • a copy (scan) of your passport or birth certificate;
  • receipt (scan) for payment of the entrance fee.

Applications for participation in the contest and documents submitted later than the specified period are not considered and are not returned to the applicant.

The application and the contest program must be sent in 2 versions - scanned version and in the Word program.

 

Financial terms for participation in the Contest

An obligatory condition for participation in the Contest is the payment of the registration fee.

  • The amount of the registration fee for participants is.

  - 4500 rubles (for Russian citizens)

  - 65 USD or 55 EURO or 435 CNY (for foreign participants)

  • Payment of the registration fee is made only by Bank transfer to the account of the Organizing Committee of the Contest.

Participants from other countries will be able to pay the fee in USD, EURO or CNY via the payment platform for accepting online payments using an individual payment link. For more information, please contact the Contest Directorate.

Requirements for video recordings of competitive performances of participants:

  1. Video recording must be made no earlier than August 1, 2020.
  2. Video recording of each round of the contest program must be recorded only on a video camera or smartphone in high resolution quality.
  3. The recording must be made in the horizontal position of the screen.
  4. The camera is arranged so that the contestant (full height), the instrument (piano or Grand piano) and the concertmaster get into the frame. Leg circumcision is not allowed in the frame.
  5. Performance of the competitive program is made only under the Grand piano or the piano.
  6. Performance of the competitive program under a phonogram is not allowed.
  7. Recording the sound of the voice and instrument should be natural and without additional sound effects of the equipment. Natural acoustics (hall) are allowed.
  8. The background behind the performer should be neutral without unnecessary items.
  9. Appearance of the performer - concert dress or suit.
  10. The sequence of performed works is determined by the participants themselves.
  11. The contestant must introduce himself (date of video recording (!!!), first name, last name, age, city) and announce his / her performance program before the start of the competitive program. Text behind the scenes is allowed.
  12. All works of the competitive program of each round are performed in a row one after another and the recording must be made in a single file without interruption and installation glues.
  13. The link to the video-recording of the competitive performance is indicated in the application.

P.S. We kindly ask you to take all responsibility for your video recording. The evaluation of the jury members and the decision to include your performance in the program of the final online gala concert of the winners will depend on the quality of the sound and image, on your appearance and artistic design of the image.

  • Participants who become winners of the Contest, can be invited to the city of Syktyvkar to participate in the winners' Gala concert.
  • The Organizing Committee has the right to any use of photos and videos of participants during the Contest for their further TV and radio broadcasting and in the Internet, or by other information and telecommunications methods with their further possible commercial distribution without additional fee to the participants of the Contest.

С 12 по 23 ноября 2020 года в городе Турку (Финландия) будет проходить VIII Международный фестиваль-конкурс «JSFest». Фестиваль посвящен известному финскому композитору Яну Сибелиусу. Конкурс состоит из разных номинаций. Номинация по вокальному мастерству будет проводиться в период с 13 по 16 ноября. В состав жюри этой номинации приглашена Заслуженная артистка России, народная артистка Республика Коми Ольга Сосновская.

«JSFest» проводится Международной культурной ассоциацией города Турку совместно с финской компанией SEM Consulting и Союзом композиторов России.

Определены новые сроки XIX Международного конкурса юных вокалистов на приз Ольги Сосновской в Краснодаре. Он должен был пройти с 8 по 13 апреля, однако из-за сложной эпидемиологической обстановки и отменой всех культурно-массовых мероприятий в России его пришлось перенести. Новые даты конкурса – с 1 по 6 октября 2020 года, прием заявок будет проходить по 17 сентября включительно. Остальные условия сохраняются, а внесенные прежде взносы учитываются.

Внимание!

В связи со сложной эпидемиологической обстановкой в России и отменой всех культурно-зрелищных мероприятий с участием детей и молодежи до 1 января 2021 года, конкурс в Краснодаре переносится.

Сроки проведения конкурса: 29 марта - 3 апреля 2021 года

Губернатор Краснодарского края Вениамин Кондратьев 13 марта подписал Постановление №129 об ограничении массовых мероприятий. Согласно документу, до 1 мая текущего года на всей территории Краснодарского края введен режим «Повышенная готовность» – запрещены, в том числе, детские культурные мероприятия. К таковым относится и XIX Международный конкурс юных вокалистов на приз Ольги Сосновской, проведение которого было запланировано в Краснодаре на 8-13 апреля. Начинающие певцы, которые готовились принять участие в конкурсе, их родители и педагоги обеспокоены: состоится ли вокальное состязание?

Итальянский специалист из Флоренции, пианист, дирижёр, концертмейстер, коуч по вокалу, директор агентства «Musikos» Симоне Мария Марциали не прилетит в Краснодар на XIX Международный конкурс юных вокалистов на приз Ольги Сосновской. Планировалось, что маэстро впервые войдет в состав членов жюри вокального состязания, проведение которого по-прежнему намечено на 8-13 апреля. Об этом рассказал продюсер конкурса Владимир Юрковский.
